Surrealistic creatures from sand thrown into the air in the photo of Claire Dropert

Claire Dropert, a photographer from the Netherlands, has created a new series of striking shots depicting animal silhouettes showing up in handfuls of sand thrown into the air. Dolphins, snakes, lizards and other creatures from the Sand Creatures II collection defy gravity and soar through the air like enchanted creatures. The Claire Gravity Project, of which these works are a part, focuses on natural elements not burdened by gravity.

Dropert said that she returned to the project after a long time. The picturesque beaches of Holland inspired her to create new sand series. Fresh creations of the photographer are concentrated around idyllic landscapes, natural elements and zero gravity. Sand in the works of Claire becomes a manifestation of a life form, an independent creature that moves and breathes. The photographer admits that the Gravity Project was a tremendous work for her, with the help of which she wanted to highlight the various elements of our planet in their natural environment, emphasizing their uniqueness as “zero gravity”.
