Under the roof of Africa. Amboseli

For every place, country and continent where I come, I have a visual image in my head. Something like that, long seen on the Discovery Channel or on the Internet. And surely this visual image I simply must remove and show to everyone later) For Kenya, I had a clear picture in my head. Of course, it can be attributed to the category of “button accordions”. And many photographers can say that this is a bad shot - to shoot something long ago replicated. But I could not leave without a photograph of elephants in the background of Kilimanjaro. Moreover, the volcano should have been covered by clouds. For me, this shot is a must-have. And it so happened that the opportunity to remove it appeared only at the end of our safari. Actually, because it was at the end of our tour that we went to Amboseli Park, from where a view of Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa, the Roof of the Black Continent, opens up ...

Before entering the park, we stopped in a Masai tribe for a short excursion. She left a double impression. And I was dominated by a languid expectation - I was dying in the hope of shooting a steep landscape with "animators" and Kilimanjaro starring. But the clouds dragged on the sky, and had to wait until the wind reveals a divine form.

"Safaris" on zebras, ostriches, wildebeests - a set traditional for all parks) Amboseli - a unique place, a significant part is boggy, and there are many ponds, which means animals have a lot of fresh grass. Such a mecca for ungulates and other herbivores. I immediately remembered the old cartoon about dinosaurs who were looking for such a valley. Forgot the name)

For the first time they saw a hippopotamus in full growth, and far from open water. He stood in a green swampy meadow and shone with droplets of water in the sun. Krasotun!

The clouds, meanwhile, parted a little, the hope of seeing the mountain was growing stronger.

The landscapes in Amboseli are simply unbelievable. It was here that they were ... African) Well, the imagination draws beautiful lonely standing acacias against the background of distant mountains and clouds. Here! This is about Amboseli. In this park, you would have to catch the light for several days, then you can leave with very cool photos.

A whole herd of elephants was hanging out right on the road. It was NOTHING! In such numbers, we have not seen these eared guys. There were a lot of them, it is simply useless to consider.

We stopped the car, right in front of us a huge family crossed with the kids, still very little elephants. This is such a pretty sight!)

It was very cool when the elephants huddled together, as if gathered by one family, and wandered around the savannah. This is the maaaalenky part of the general herd)

But the main goal - elephants against the backdrop of the mountain - has not yet been fulfilled.

And then we turned back and managed to rent a family crossing the road. And just against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro! But with the road in the frame was not very. Do not set off! Let's go further.

We stopped at a pair of elephants. Joffrey, our driver, said it was a pair of males on the verge of a fight. We began to wait until they occupy the best position in the frame, just under the snowy peak. There is! A series of shots was taken, before you is probably the best shot. The second elephant in the background was just running towards the first, dispersing the dust in order to squander through the wort. I’ll tell you that a running elephant is a terrible sight ...

The day was declining, the clouds were thickening, and we were driving towards the hotel. The group spent the night in a steep lodge, and we were in some kind of shelter in a border town.

In August, we will return to this place again as part of a new safari tour to Kenya.

The next morning, clouds broke over us, which again hid the top of Kilimanjaro. But there are still many plots!

Finally they shot the buffalo. This handsome man simply lay in the bushes and basked in the morning sun.

At the local lake, a little pink flamingos were filmed. Feathered guys were also in a state of siesta. As a matter of fact, it was already possible to take stock - who was seen and who was not. We removed almost all the main fauna, only the hyena was missing.

And here -Oh! Luck! First a hyena resting in the shade, and then a few more hyenas in the savannah. I did not expect them to be so huge! Scary animals)

Local kingfisher on an acacia branch.

And the last look at the savannah - further the airport and home ... Eh! Kenya, we'll be back !!!
