From the ceiling: what the bedrooms of people from all over the world look like

In 2010, John Taekwray, a photographer from South Africa, took on the very large-scale project My Room Project, which required him to go on an incredible journey around the world. When visiting different corners of the globe, he installed a camera on the ceilings of the bedrooms of local residents to capture the lifestyle and cultural characteristics of the inhabitants of the rooms.

The first photo that John took was the bedroom of his friends in Paris, but now in the collection of the project there are already more than 1000 pictures of rooms of various people from more than 55 countries.

The author is unusually curious about how people of his age live in different places of the planet, what they dream about, what they hope for. That is why he is most interested in people born in the 1980s or 1990s, and it was to them that he came to visit most often. At the same time, his project is no longer just an idea, it has become a kind of hobby, an original method of travel, as well as an alternative way to make new acquaintances in other countries, on other continents, to learn about other people's culture. We present to you some of the works of John Taekwray created by him as part of the amazing My Room Project.
