The capital of Hungary, Budapest is the youngest European capital. The official birthday of Budapest is considered to be 1873, when three cities (Buda, Obuda and Pest) decided to unite into a single Budapest. But the real story begins in the first century AD, when the Romans settled here. Then Magyars and Turks lived here, the country was ruled by many different dynasties. Each nationality brought something of its own to the life and image of Budapest.

The First and Second World Wars caused significant damage to the city, which they tried to eliminate not a single decade. Hungary, although it became a socialist country, in the 70s, Janos Kadar significantly weakened state influence in many areas of life. In 1990, Soviet troops left Hungary, and now Budapest is a progressive European city.
