An interesting fact, which few probably know, is that initially the role of geishas belonged only to men - they worked as jesters at banquets in entertainment districts. And the first geisha woman appeared relatively recently. She was a representative of an ancient profession, the "priestess of love," Kassen in the second half of the eighteenth century.
