Egyptian hieroglyphs, mummies and other unusual finds in Australia

What do we know about the history of the development of Australia? Australia was inhabited by people about 50-70 thousand years ago. By the time the first Europeans reached the shores of this continent, the number of local residents, according to various estimates, ranged from 350 to 700 thousand people, and they spoke more than 250 languages. But since the discovery by the Dutch in 1606 and the beginning of the colonization of the continent, most Australian Aborigines have died out from European diseases or have been exterminated by the newcomer population.

Interestingly, the presence of ancient Egyptians in the history books is not mentioned. Nevertheless, numerous finds attested by official science, paint us interesting paintings from the Australian past.

A hieroglyphic inscription consisting of 250 characters was found on the territory of Hunter Valley National Park, and next to it is an image of the ancient Egyptian god Anubis. After deciphering the inscription, it turned out that the text tells of a sea voyage under the direction of Jesseb, the son of the Pharaoh IV dynasty Gedefra, who reigned around 2500 BC. In addition to these inscriptions, other evidence was discovered by archaeologists: Egyptian-style drawings and inscriptions in a cave on the banks of the Glenelg River, cave paintings in the Alice Springs area.

It is interesting that in ancient Egypt there are numerous references to sea voyages to the east of the inhabitants of this country. For example, in the Hermitage, in the collection of Egyptian antiquities, a papyrus dating from Egyptologists 2000 BC is stored. The ancient manuscript tells the story of a shipwrecked seaman when returning home from a long voyage. The text refers to large ships, whose length was about 60 meters. According to experts, the Egyptians had a very developed marine fleet at that time and could well have sailed to Australia on their ships.

The regular sea voyages of the ancient Egyptians are confirmed by numerous inscriptions on expeditions to the mysterious country of Punt, which, according to most Egyptologists, could be India.

The second interesting moment in the whole story with the Egyptians traveling to the shores of Australia is the mummies. Some Australian Aborigines, for example, residents of the Arnhemland and Torres Strait, up to the end of the 19th century, had a custom to mummify the bodies of the dead. Moreover, they mummified in the same way as the ancient Egyptian ones. First, organs and soft tissues were removed from the abdomen, and then the brain, after which the body was embalmed. But then what happened was familiar to lovers of the history and culture of Ancient Egypt. The body was transported for burial on a special island through the strait, using boats that resembled the boats of the Ra Egyptians.

No less interesting finds are found in Egypt itself. During excavations of the city in the territory of Upper Egypt, the tomb of the priestess was found. After a thorough analysis, it turned out that her body was embalmed using eucalyptus oil. Eucalyptus plants grow on the Australian continent, and several species are found in the Philippines and Indonesia. Of course, one cannot exclude the possibility that oil came to Ancient Egypt from other eastern countries that have contact with Australians.

In addition, facts indicating Egyptians' acquaintance with the Australian aborigines are also found in the wall frescoes of Ancient Egypt. In the images in the temples, Egyptologists repeatedly noted images of people who did not look like any of the peoples with whom the inhabitants of the Nile Valley had contact. But these unusual people have a striking resemblance to the indigenous Australians.

It turns out that the ancient Egyptians managed not only to build grandiose pyramids and temple complexes, but also to travel considerable distances, up to Australia. And judging by the available data, this was not an isolated case, but regular swimming, as a result of which the culture of Australian Aborigines acquired unusual funeral rites.
