Frozen Lake Michigan crashed into millions of shards and it looks fantastic

Most of the past winter season in several regions of the United States showed its superpowers polar vortex. For example, in the Chicago area, thermometers showed record -30 ° C degrees for this area, and a unique natural phenomenon completely and completely took control of Lake Michigan, located right there. Because of the phenomenal weather conditions, ice shelves appeared on the pond - formations from frozen water that breaks into previously formed layers of ice. But everything ever passes, and in Illinois, spring also brought dramatic changes: the ice began to crumble, turning the territory into a magical wonderland.

Water moving under the ice pushes the frozen strata to the surface and breaks them into bewitching patterns that can be admired from the South Haven pier. You can only capture this beautiful phenomenon on the camera from afar, to go out onto the unstable surface of the lake is an extremely dangerous undertaking.

Of course, this is not the first time in history that Mother Nature has done such tricks with Lake Michigan. Locals know that the cold season is a season of wonderful landscapes.

Today, around 12 million people live in Lake Michigan.
